SI 2020-129 Forest (Control of Timber) (Export of Unprocessed and Primarily

THE Minister of Environment, Climate Change, Tourism and Hospitality, in terms of sections 65 and 89 of the Forest Act [Chapter 19:05], hereby makes the following regulations:—

JSC Invites Public to Nominate Candidates for 5 Constitutional Court Vacancies

The Judicial Service Commission [JSC] has published a Position Advertisement announcing five vacancies in the Constitutional Court and inviting members of the public, in terms of section 180(4)(b) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, to nominate suitably qualified persons to fill these positions.  The advertisement states the qualifications for appointment as a Constitutional Court judge and the procedure for submitting nominations to the JSC.  The complete advertisement is the first downloadable document below.

Cabinet Meeting 2020-18: 2nd June

Cabinet considered and adopted a report on the country’s response to the COVID-19 outbreak. The presentation was made by Honourable Vice President K.C.D. Mohadi, as Chairman of the Ad-Hoc Inter-Ministerial Task Force on COVID-19.  Cabinet noted that the cumulative rapid screening and PCR tests conducted has reached 45 395 as of 1 June, 2020.  These are disaggregated as follows: 27 373 rapid screening tests and 18 072 PCR diagnostic tests.

In the National Assembly Last Week & Coming up This Week

The National Assembly was the only House sitting last week and will sit again this week, starting on 2nd June.  This bulletin outlines first the business done last week and then the business on the Order Paper for this week. 

The Senate last sat on 21st May and is not due to sit again until Tuesday 9th June.

Cabinet Meeting 2020-17: 27th May

The Chairman of the Ad-Hoc Inter-Ministerial Task Force on COVID-19, Honourable Vice President K.C.D. Mohadi, presented the weekly report on the national preparedness and response to the COVID-19 Outbreak, which was adopted by Cabinet. Cabinet was informed that the number of COVID-19 tests conducted so far had increased from 31 589 recorded on 17 May, 2020 to 38 656. To date, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases stands at 132, up from the 56 cases recorded on 24 May, 2020.
