Shop Licences Amendment Bill HB 10, 2016

This Bill was gazetted on 16th December 2016. It provides for the amendment of the Shop Licences Act, and is an example of a legislative reform aimed at facilitating Ease of Doing Business. Noteworthy provisions include:- = Clause 6, which will allow a licensing authority to specify the period of validity of a licence as any period between one and five years [instead of all licences expiring at the end of the calendar year of issue, as at present] = Clause 9, which will give licensing authorities a five-year deadline for the establishment of electronic mediums for submission and processing of licence applications = Clause 8, which will abolish the need for the publication of applications = Clauses 10, which will require a licensing authority to give prompt reasons for refusal of a licence
