NOTE BY VERITAS ON AMENDMENTS TO BILL MADE BY NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

The Bill, as amended, was referred back to the Parliamentary Legal Committee on 3rd August for the Committee's report on whether or not the amendments are consistent with the  Constitution.  The report is expected to be announced once Parliament resumes on 12th September, after the present six-week recess.

Only if the Committee's report is non-adverse can the Bill as amended by finally passed by the National Assembly and transmitted to the Senate.
