Public Consultations on Consumer Protection Bill :
Monday 25th February to Friday 1st March
The National Assembly’s Portfolio Committee on Industry and Commerce will hold public consultations on the Consumer Protection Bill from Monday to Friday this week. The committee’s member will be divided into two teams and will cover various areas as shown below.
A Note on the Consumer Protection Bill
The Bill is available on the Veritas website here [link]. The official explanatory memorandum is included with the Bill.
Purpose: To protect consumers of goods and services by establishing the Consumer Protection Agency, and regulation of Consumer Advocacy Organisations, and also to repeal the Consumer Contracts Act [link] .

Attendance at the Public Consultations
Members of the public, interested groups and organisations are invited to attend these consultations – and to present their views on the Bill for inclusion in the Portfolio Committee’s report to the National Assembly in due course.
