The Marriages Bill is on the Senate’s Order Paper for Wednesday 24 March 2021.  Although the Senate has not yet given the Bill its Second Reading, the Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Bill has a Notice of Amendments on the Order Paper for the next stage of the Bill, which will be the Committee Stage. 

Presumably the Minister, in winding up the Second Reading debate, will refer to the amendments proposed in his Notice and explain how they respond to the objections to certain clauses of the Bill raised by Senators in the earlier part of the debate.   

And if the Bill is amended by the Senate, it will then have to go back to the National Assembly for its approval of the changes.
