- The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) is an Election Management Body established in terms of Section 238 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe. Its main function is to prepare for, conduct and supervise all elections and referendums in Zimbabwe.
- The Commission operated with a full complement of Commissioners during the year 2022, with Commissioners Chigaru, Kazembe, Kundidzora, Mushonga, Ndlovu, and Sebata retiring at the expiry of their terms of office. New Commissioners Ambrose, Manhivi, , Mpofu, Murutare, Nzvenga and Shava joined the Commission.
- Commissioner Rodney S Kiwa was elevated to the position of Deputy Chairperson of the Commission.
- The Commission was initially allocated a total of ZWL11.6 billion which was later reviewed to ZWL44.3 billion for operations including employment costs during the year under review.
- 29 National Assembly, 149 Local Authority, and 2 representatives of PWDs by-elections were done during the year under review.
- All vacant Proportional Representation (PR) seats in the National Assembly and Senate were filled in terms of the law.
- The commission successfully delimited electoral boundaries and the report was submitted to the President.
