Open Committee Meetings – Monday 6th to Thursday 9th May

Open Portfolio Committee and Thematic Committee meetings are scheduled for the afternoon of Monday 6th, the morning of Tuesday 7th and the morning of Thursday 9th May, as listed below.  “Open” means that a meeting will be open to attendance by members of the public, but as observers only.  Members of the public proposing to attend an open meeting are informed that IDs will be required to gain entry to the New Parliament Building.

No open meetings are listed for Wednesday 8th and Friday 10th May.

Joint Portfolio Committee: Budget, Finance and Economic Development and Industry Commerce

Oral evidence with the Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion on issues raised by the Joint Committee on the recently pronounced 2024 Monetary Policy Statement (MPS)

Thematic Committee: Indigenisation and Empowerment

Oral evidence from the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion on:

1.   The status of the National Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Fund; and

2.   The implications of the amendments made to the Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Act through the Finance Act, No. 1 of 2018.

Portfolio Committee: Higher and Tertiary Education

Oral evidence from (1) Verify Engineering and (2) the National Biotechnology Authority on their operations.

Verification visit to the National Sports Stadium to assess progress made in the rehabilitation of the stadium.
