Open Committee Meetings This Week

There are six open Committee meetings scheduled for this week, as indicated below.

In addition, two committees will be conducting field visits, one to hospitals and clinics and the other to innovation hubs and industrial parks in tertiary education centres.  The times and dates of the visits are shown below.

“Open”, in the context of committee meetings, means that the meetings are open to attendance by members of the public, but as observers only.  Members of the public wishing to attend meetings in the New Parliament Building will need to produce their IDs to gain entry to the Building.

Monday 12th May at 10 am

Public Accounts Committee

Oral evidence from the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works on issues raised by the Auditor-General in her report on the Ministry’s management of revenue-generating properties.  Also:

Oral evidence from the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development on issues raised by the Auditor-General in her report on the Ministry’s support for the production of PPE and sanitisers for Covid-19.

Verification Visits and Consultations on Access to
Health Services by Sex Workers

Below is the schedule of visits and consultations by the Thematic Committee on HIV and AIDS regarding access by sex workers to HIV/AIDS and sexual reproductive health services.  At the venues the Committee will be meeting officials of the National AIDS Council, the Ministry of Health and Child Welfare and the Centre for Sexual Health and HIV AIDS Research.  The Committee will also be receiving submissions from sex workers.

Fact-finding Visits by the Portfolio Committee on Higher and Tertiary Education to Innovation Parks and Industrial Hubs
in Universities and Technical Colleges

The Portfolio Committee on Higher and Tertiary Education will be visiting innovation parks and industrial hubs in universities and technical colleges round the country.  At all venues the Committee will be meeting college officials and touring the parks and hubs.

Friday 16th May

Bulawayo

8:30 to 11 am:  Bulawayo Polytechnic College

11:30 am to 1 pm:  National University of Science and Technology (meeting officials)

2 to 4 pm:  National University of Science and Technology (tour of park/hub)

Saturday 17th May

Gweru

8 to 10:30 am:  Midlands State University

11 am to 1 pm:  Gweru Polytechnic
