MONETARY POLICY STATEMENT FOCUSING ON PRICE AND EXCHANGE RATE STABILITY 17 FEBRUARY 2020

The measures and policies discussed in the statement are aimed at accomplishing the Bank’s 2020 key strategic focus areas of ensuring exchange rate and price stability, the smooth functioning of the interbank foreign exchange market and providing support to economic activity without endangering the important objective of reducing and stabilising inflation in the short to medium term.

2020-05-22 Reserve Bank : Press Statement on the Deliberations of the Monetary Policy Committee [MPC]

The Monetary Policy Committee of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (the Committee) met on 22 May 2020 and considered a wide range of issues currently confronting the Zimbabwean economy.
The Committee welcomed the Bank’s decision to introduce higher-denominated banknotes to the market through normal banking channels that are money supply neutral but urged the Bank to enhance the process of dealing with and replacing soiled and damaged notes in circulation.

1. The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe held its third meeting on 29 November 2019. The Committee met and deliberated on a number of issues including the potential monetary implications of the 2020 National Budget and the liquidity situation in the economy.
